Anna M. Alfonso, age 93, passed away Friday, January 26, 2018, in Pass Christian, MS. Matriarch of five generations, heralding from Algiers, LA and A 1941 graduate of Martin Behrman High School. During the World War II, she worked as an editor for Dixie Magazine for the Time-Picayune.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Maximum “Mac” Malet and Anna Mae Denis Malet; husband, Captain Thomas R. Alfonso; daughter, Maxine A. Alfonso. She is survived by her children, Linda A. Bigler, T. R. “Skip” Alfonso (Anne), Cathleen Whitney (David), and Erica A. Gaber; 6 grandchildren, Sean P. Bigler, Matthew Guilmino, Reid Guilmino, Carly Alfonso, Bailey Mae Fazekas, and David Fazekas; 5 great-grandchildren, Kurtis A. Bigler, Sean Patrick Bigler, Jr., Martina del Carmen Bigler, Evan Alfonso-Juarez, and Maxine Guilmino; great-great-grandson, Christian Andrew Bigler; several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, January 30, 2018, at Westlawn Memorial Park, 1225 Whitney Ave, Gretna, LA.
