The walk will be a fund-raiser for “White Cane”, the primary fund raising drive of the Mississippi Lions Sight Foundation.
White Cane funds the Mississippi Lions’ many service projects including the Mississippi Lions Eye Bank, the Hearing Impaired Program, the Sight Screening Program, the Diabetes Awareness Program, and the Sea & Sun Camp for blind and vision impaired children. All of these projects are supported by the Diamondhead Lions Club.
DETAILS: At 9:00 AM on This Saturday, October 17, 2015, the Diamondhead Lions Club will sponsor the 1st Annual “Walk for Sight” in Diamondhead. The walk will be a 5K (3.1 mile) walk in the lower region of Diamondhead, south of I-10. Registration and start location will be at the Harbor House.
The first 100 walkers will get a T-Shirt and a 28-page Booklet commemorating the event. The donation
for each walker is $15, which will go directly to White Cane charity projects. Sponsors of the walk have an Ad in the booklet, and the first 40 advertisers to support the cost of the T-Shirts are recognized on the back of the T-Shirt. If you can’t walk, please consider sponsoring a walker from the local schools so they can get this cool T-Shirt.
If you are interested in walking or sponsoring a walker(s) please contact Lion Carl Necaise at 228-222-3404 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Please register now, as only the first 100 walkers registered will be guaranteed the commemorative T-Shirt.
Please note that Governor Bryant has declared October 15 as “White Cane Safety Day” to remind all citizens to take careful note of blind and vision impaired individuals using a White Cane and to watch out for their safety as they travel on foot.
Saturday, October 17, has been declared “White Cane Day” in Diamondhead in commemoration of the “Walk for Sight” event.
