The board of directors of the Diamondhead Country Club and Property Association are implementing major renovations of both 18 hole golf courses over the next 4 years (see articles below). With golf declining world wide, what are your thought and comments?April 24, 2013 at 10:14 am #4725
Without a nice place to stay, such as a casino on the waterfront for outside players, spending all this renovation money is just more money into the bottomless pit of the Diamondhead golf courses mostly from the nongolfing members pockets. I have wondered if the “Paveing” fund (POA fees sit aside for Streets) was empty when the streets were transferred to the city. If not was this left over funding (if any) put into Golf Course renovations?April 24, 2013 at 11:18 am #4727
This is all part of why, in the 2010 election, somehow it was voted to permanently extend the POA dues on us property owner. Of course it was voted in much the same way the Roads, etc were voted over. While I do not think the Roads issue should ever have become an issue, the POA dues not expiring should. We already were paying for roads. What difference should it make WHO controls that upkeep and maintenance? Our costs should have stayed flat. Instead, POA is holding on to some of that income. Had our dues dropped an equal amount to what we are paying the city, the whole Roads transfer fiasco would have been a moot point.
Golf is losing money yet where we once had one golf pro, we now have two with an assistant? What are those salaries and benefits? I own a set of clubs yet do not golf. I moved into a Golf Course Community and am resigned to the fact that a portion of my dues will go towards golf. I do, however, object to the reckless spending on said golf courses and the whole golf operation.April 24, 2013 at 12:56 pm #4732
The POA is just trying to justify our dues we pay now. As Dominic stated, the golf courses are loosing money and yet we are still dumping money into a pit. I wish that every resident in Diamondhead would stop paying dues at once and force the hand of the POA to make major changes. If you cut the head off of the snake it will soon quit squirming.May 6, 2013 at 4:45 pm #4884
Did the POA get permits and A&E approval from the city for renovations to the golf courses?, they will effect drainage and run off of fertilizers defoliants and other toxic things into streams ect.May 6, 2013 at 8:26 pm #4889
DID PURCEL PAY HIS 34 MILs like the rest of us did now the country club is a for profit corporation and has been from 2004May 6, 2013 at 8:43 pm #4891
The worst thing the crime of FRAUD, as there is no POA
1. There is only Purcel
2. Purcel did not finish the roads.
3. Purcel did not maintain the sewer system.
4. Purcel did not maintain the fire department
5. Purcel did not turn over the amenities he took them back all of them.
6. Purcel did not maintain the streets We as the city have to care for them
7. Purcel is breaking the law because he can not charge anyone who does not to be part of his crappy club unless he pays dues on all his lots, The covenants are unenforceable.
8. Why don’t you admit he is making complete JACKA$$ out of you so called POA goons
Wow so you can fake you are somebody important I am on the POA we lie we cheat we steel we in fact do any dirty under handed thing just to get a cheap round of golf.
Tell now how you can lose money year after year and not take care of basic needs of the development and think you are still in compliance with you agreements. such as the following. charges under a general plan or scheme of improvement for the benefit of all the said lands and the future owners of said lands; This is all of the LANDS NOT JUST PURCELS LANDMay 6, 2013 at 8:54 pm #4892
Skip the Board of Directors is the Percel Corporation a foreign corporation. We have no input to this corporation it has reneged on all of it commitments. Skip that is why there is a law after 50% of the lots are sold Purcel must transfer the amenities if not the convents and the dues are unenforceable. Skip if want to play king and puppet mayor for a while until they vote you out pay your 85 or 65 buck each month and shut upMay 17, 2013 at 4:24 pm #5064
I am finished paying this crooked POA any dues, they do nothing for me, and all the free world can use all the amenities..wonder where all the Silver Slipper money is going that they collect? A really good, outside audit should be performed and going back 40 years.October 29, 2014 at 10:34 am #8879
STOP THE PROJECTS…there are more important issues in DH then the golf money pit!!!!
Have the Silver Slipper pay for it, they have the money…WE don’t!!October 30, 2014 at 10:52 am #8888
This city has the highest HOA dues in the country. DH had an equestrian set up but when it lost money they got rid of it. DH is not a golf communtiy any more than its an equestrian community as fortunate one said. Golf is on the decline. I resent every dime the poa robs from me to pay for a handful of rich golfers. I boycott the cr@ppy country club for the same reason. It’s welfare for the pigs who are diamondhead golfers. Lucky thing is golf will inevitably die as will the pigs on the poa who rob so much money from us. We need more non golfers and more ethical people on the board of the poa.October 30, 2014 at 10:55 am #1415
