Hi, we had a very good meeting last night with 15 members present and one new member, Jan Haller, who moved to Diamondhead from the BSL/Waveland area.

A lot of very good information about the POA, zoning for a new casino (west of Yacht Club Drive), the Incorporation issue, covenants, restrictions, etc. was offered by Mario Feola, our POA Board President. I asked Matthew Swift to talk notes so I could relay same to all of you. As soon as Matt gets his notes/minutes to me, I will forward same to all of you. Mr. Feola did emphasize the problems if zoning for the intended casino was changed (currently “single resident”) and that could possibly lead to further problems within zoning within Diamondhead. Diamondhead consists of several separate areas, with separate covenants at this time.

A brief report was given on the wonderful Holiday Party hosted by Dr. John and Madeleine Fulwiler last Saturday night. Lots of good company, good food and drinks. I wish you all could have attended.
Ruby Stegeman was able to attend, accompanied by her son, Steven. There were also several Coast Democrats present and everyone “passed a good time.”
To date, there is no Inaugural Event being planned for the Gulf Coast, other than supposedly a “viewing” of events in Harrison County (maybe). I have no information on this.

There will be a Inaugural Ball in Jackson, tickets $45. If you would like to attend this function, please let me know. Also, I previously sent out the information via email to each of you.

But there will be a CELEBRATE AMERICAN BALL being hosted by St. Rose de Lima Church in Bay St. Louis this Sunday night (January 17, 2009 a the church).
There will be a cash bar and music. Advance tickets are $5; tickets at the door are $7…can’t beat that deal!
I am sorry that I do not have the time, but will find out later today (Tom Shepard, please email me the time and any other info you may have, please). I will be going by the church today and pick up a flyer and get my tickets. This will be a lot of fun, so please try to come. Call me for any details, directions, etc.

The next meeting of the Diamondhead Democratic Club will be on Tuesday, February 10, 1009 at 7 p.m. in the card room of the Community Center. We are reserved for that night for all of 2009. If anyone would like to bring refreshments, please let me know.
Also, there will be no HCDEC meeting in January due to Martin Luther King, Jr. Day falling on that date next week.

Dick Park resigned as Treasurer due to other commitments on 2nd Tuesdays. Thank you, Dick, for assuming the office these past few years. Maryellen Turcotte accepted the office. Current expenses were:
$16.80 for stamps and flowers for $55.64 for flowers for Ruby Stegeman, with donations of $5.90, bringing the current total in our Treasury to, with the current Treasury amount of $178.14. There were several donations at the meeting last night and will be reported at our next meeting.

It was announced that local and state elections will be held in May of 2009, and we will have more information on this at a later date.

As always, contact me with any questions or comments (255-5121, email

Hope to see you Sunday at St. Rose’s.
